Prior Learning Assessment and Credit

Earn Credit for Prior Learning and Knowledge

You can earn your degree in less time through Rosemont College’s Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) program, designed in keeping with industry best practices and standards, and awards you credit of up to 15 courses (45 credits) towards your undergraduate degree.

A Prior Learning Assessment or P.L.A., also called experiential learning or credit for prior learning, is the documentation of learning from college-level vocational, or career training skills, competencies, and experience that is equivalent to traditional classroom learning warranting academic credit for the knowledge gained through your education (formal and informal), training (non-academic), and experience that did not directly transfer into your plan of study upon admission.  It is not earning credit for life experience, but earning credit for the knowledge and skills a student gained through non-traditional learning experiences in their lives.
