Air Conditioner Policy
Rosemont College requires that you purchase your own Air Conditioner (AC) window unit that matches the required specifications listed below. Our facilities department will install the AC Unit, but it will be your responsibility to store it over the summer months and to make sure that you request the unit to be uninstalled at the end of the school year. Rosemont College is not responsible for any damage or failure of the AC Unit.
Rosemont AC Policy
A request for air conditioning with appropriate documentation must be submitted to the Office of Residence Life for each academic year. All requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis for approval. If approved and you select to live in a residence hall without central air, you will need to provide your own window unit as this is considered to be a "personally prescribed device" for approved students to bring with them while living on campus.
Requirements and Process
Documentation from the physician providing care is required indicating a need for air conditioning. The documentation must include:
- Your diagnosis
- A treatment plan
- Any additional information that supports the medical need.
Physician notes on a prescription, such as "Please provide an air conditioner for my patient due to allergies," will not be accepted as documenting the need. Documentation from your doctor must be typed on letterhead and signed.
Priority will be given to those students who have provided documented evidence of exacerbation of chronic respiratory diseases including asthma, chronic medical conditions, and those receiving allergy injections on a regular basis.
