A Dangerous Idea tells the story of how powerful forces in the United States have used biology as a social weapon to stall the advancement of economic and social equality among its citizenry. Claims about discoveries of genes for intelligence, poverty and crime offer pseudoscientific explanations and justifications for rapidly rising rates of inequality and discrimination. A Dangerous Idea shows the great injustices and human tragedies that have been perpetrated in the name of the “gene” over the last century, ending with an empowering message as it reveals current discoveries in science which demonstrate that there are no biologically deterministic barriers to a more equal and just society.
