Konstantinos "Dino" Apostolou
Dino Apostolou is a police officer with the Philadelphia Police Department. Learn about his career and why he feels Rosemont’s Criminal Justice program has boosted his professional knowledge and skills.
What do you love about your job?
Two things I love about my job are helping someone who needs it, and interacting with the kids in the community. I have learned that five minutes of your time can impact someone else’s life forever.
What has been your best experience on the job?
The best experience I have had as a Philadelphia police officer has been the bowling with-a-cop event hosted called Pins and Police. I was able to get the whole bowling alley at a discounted rate so citizens could come and bowl with me. I interacted with so many people, and it gave kids a new outlook on police. It was such a success that we ran out of room even with mixing parties together.
Why did you choose Rosemont College?
I choose Rosemont to pursue my education because of how convenient and accelerated the Criminal Justice bachelor’s degree and the Homeland Security and Emergency Management master’s degree is. Rosemont also offers a Forensic Phycology graduate certificate program that is attached to my master’s degree.
What has been your best Rosemont experience so far?
The best experience I have had at Rosemont so far is having small classes resulting into great relationships with the other students and professors.
How would you describe your experience with faculty?
My experience with the Rosemont faculty has been incredible, from the director to the professors. The faculty is always there to help and teach in such a way where the information is retained easily.
Favorite class?
My favorite class so far has been a turbo-accelerated negotiation class. We had a small class, and we all learned so much about negations and did mock negations, which was an amazing, hands-on experience.
Why would you recommend Rosemont to your peer?
After attending Rosemont, I’ll never go to another college because of the great experience I had. From the small class size, which gives every student the attention they need, to the gorgeous campus, you will not be disappointed.
How has Rosemont helped you advance in your career?
After graduating with my bachelor’s degree and proceeding into my master’s in homeland security and emergency management with a graduate certificate in forensic phycology, I will have many professional opportunities after my retirement from the Philadelphia Police Department.
