Student Employment
Rosemont College is a proud participant of the Federal Work Study program. Each year, the College receives federal funding for the purpose of providing employment opportunities to qualifying students. In addition, a portion of this funding is awarded to students performing community service projects.
While funding for the program is limited, Federal Work Study is an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience and earn supplemental funding for their education.
Federal Work Study Eligibility Criteria
You must fill out the FAFSA and demonstrate financial need. The Financial Aid staff will determine your financial need by subtracting the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from your FAFSA from your educational costs. Work study is a part of your overall financial aid and will be listed as a type of aid on your award letter.
Secondly, a position must be available. Positions are determined by the needs of various departments as well as the overall allocation of work study funding available.
Finally, you and your potential supervisor must agree that the position is a good fit for both parties. You must submit all requested financial aid documents and receive approval from the Financial Aid Office before you can begin working on campus.
Due to the overwhelming interest in this program, not every student with an award on their package indicating eligibility will be able to secure a position. Generally positions are hired semester by semester with most students continuing in their position from the fall semester into the spring semester.
Steps to Obtaining a Position
- Select the option on your FAFSA that you are interested in work study.
- If your financial aid award letter contains a Federal Work Study award, you will receive a letter during the summer advising you to complete our online work study application. You are also encouraged to review our list of available positions and supervisors (located on the Student Life tab of IWay) and contact the supervisors directly to follow up on your application.
- Once you and a supervisor have agreed to work together, you must complete and submit a W4, I-9, and student employment contract to the Payroll Office. Also, at this point you must have submitted any verification documents or other information requested to finalize your financial aid record.
- You must also review the online work study manual before you begin employment and sign an acknowledgment of this.
- Once you begin working, you should submit timesheets, available as an excel file from the work study website (located on the Student Life tab of IWay), on a bi-weekly basis. Your work study award will be earned in the form of a bi-weekly paycheck for hours actually worked. The base pay rate for on campus employment is $8.25/hour.
