Facility Rental FAQs:
Q: Can I get married or hold a wedding at Rosemont College?
A: As of March 2013 the Archdiocese of Philadelphia as given permission for the celebration of the Sacrament of Matrimony in Catholic chapels in accordance with specific guidelines. Therefore, Rosemont College may have Catholic weddings in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. Other weddings may take place in suitable locations on campus.
Q: Are catering services available for events?
A: Yes, Parkhurst Dining Service provides elegant service for all events.
Q: Is parking available for my group?
A: Yes, we have several parking areas with handicapped availability.
Q: Can we serve alcohol at our events?
A: Yes, alcohol is permitted on campus, but it must be served by a certified bartender.
Q: Is your campus accessible by public transportation?
A: Yes, the campus is a five-minute walk from the Rosemont SEPTA train station and a 15-minute walk from the P and W trolley.
Q: If renting a residence hall, do I have to bring linens or are they provided?
A: Linens can be provided at an additional cost to you.
FAQs About Weddings in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception:
The Facilities Rental Coordinator serves as the initial point of contact regarding weddings at Rosemont College. Inquiries should be made 12 to 18 months before your requested date. To inquire about your eligibility to be married at Rosemont College and to set up an on-campus appointment, please complete the Wedding Request Rental Form.
Q: Who can be married at Rosemont College?
To be married in the Chapel at Rosemont College, the following conditions must be met:
- One or both of the couple are Rosemont College alumni from the Undergraduate College or the School of Graduate and Professional Studies.
- One or both of the couple are related to a Rosemont College alum or employee as a child, stepchild, grandchild, niece or nephew.
- One or both of the couple are alumni of Holy Child School at Rosemont.
- One of the couple is Catholic.
Q: Who can preside at weddings at Rosemont College?
A: You will need to invite a priest to preside at your wedding. Please note that Rosemont College does not provide a priest to preside at weddings. It is the responsibility of the couple to contact and confirm a presider for their wedding.
If your presider lives outside the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, he must submit a Letter of Good Standing to the Office for Clergy of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Our wedding coordinator will provide additional information about this at the first meeting with the couple.
Q: What days and times are available for weddings?
A: Weddings are held on Saturday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. Rehearsals are held the Friday before at 5:00 p.m. The availability of the Chapel for weddings is subject to the College's calendar.
Q: What is the seating capacity of the Chapel?
A: The Immaculate Conception Chapel can seat 200 people. Additional chairs are not permitted.
Q: What is the arrival times for the bridal party and guests?
A: In order for weddings to begin promptly at 3:00 p.m. we ask that:
- The florist arrive by 2:00 p.m.
- The groom and groomsmen arrive at 2:15 p.m.
- The bride and bridesmaids arrive at 2:30 p.m.
Q: What is the order of the wedding procession?
A: In keeping with the liturgical norms of the Church the procession begins with the cross bearer followed by the readers, presider, and bridal party (including the groom).
Q: Does the College provide a Wedding Coordinator and Altar Servers?
A: The College provides a Wedding Coordinator who meets with you before your wedding, conducts the rehearsal and is present for your wedding. We do not have altar servers; however, if a family member is an altar server in a parish that person can assist the priest at your wedding.
Q: Are flash photography and cell phone photography allowed?
A: Flash photography can be used only during the processional and recessional. Please do not stand in the center aisle at anytime during the ceremony.
Q: Where will guests park?
A: There is a limited number of spaces in front of the chapel. These are reserved for the bridal party, immediate family, handicapped persons, and the priest. Guests should park in the lot behind Kaul Hall off the Wendover Avenue entrance. There is additional parking behind Lawrence Hall. Drivers can drop off guests who have difficulty walking in front of the chapel before parking in the designated lot. Parking is not allowed in the circle in front of Kaul, on the driveways leading from the Kaul lot to the chapel nor on the grass.
Q: What is Rosemont's policy about fees and refunds?
A: There is a $1,500.00 fee to cover the cost of your wedding. A non-refundable deposit of $300, applied toward this fee, is due with the signed contract. The balance is due six months before the wedding. If a wedding is canceled more than three months before the wedding date, there will be a 50% refund. There is no refund if the wedding is canceled three months or less prior to the ceremony.
