Wedding Process
Couples may inquire about dates for their wedding ceremony 12 to 18 months before their requested date. Please complete the following form to make your inquiry.
Step 1: To register your wedding, please fill out the Wedding Registration Form below and have your presider sign it. Then, send this form and a letter of permission from the pastor of either the bride or the groom to the Rosemont College Business Office, Attn: Facility Rental Coordinator, 1400 Montgomery Avenue, Rosemont, PA 19010.
Step 2: Once a couple’s eligibility has been confirmed and the Wedding Registration Form and permission letter from the pastor have been received, we will schedule a time for both of you to meet with the Wedding Coordinator. During this meeting, the Wedding Coordinator will review the documents needed, the preparation process, Church requirements and Rosemont College policies.
Step 3: The wedding contract will be e-mailed to the couple after their first meeting with the Wedding Coordinator. Please note that your wedding date will not be confirmed until after this meeting and the receipt of the contract and deposit.
- The signed contract and the deposit of $300 should be sent within three weeks to confirm the wedding date. The check should be made payable to Rosemont College and sent to the Rosemont College Business Office, Attention Billing Coordinator, 1400 Montgomery Avenue, Rosemont, PA 19010
- Weddings in our chapel are scheduled for Saturday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. with the rehearsal the evening before at 5:00 p.m.
Step 4: The paperwork required for the wedding should be done by the priest who is presiding. This paperwork includes the Prenuptial Investigation forms; two witness testimonials for each party; and any necessary dispensations or permissions.
- Paperwork done by a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia should be given to the Wedding Coordinator at least one month before the wedding.
- Paperwork completed by a priest from another diocese should be sent by the priest to his Chancery Office. They, in turn, will send the paperwork to the Chancery Office of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. They will send the paperwork to the pastor of St. Thomas of Villanova Parish who will contact our Wedding Coordinator.
- The Archdiocese of Philadelphia requires an approved Marriage Preparation Program (Pre-Cana) anytime during the couple’s engagement but not less than six months prior to their wedding. Rosemont College does not provide this program but will assist couples in finding programs in local parishes.
- In addition to this Marriage Preparation requirement, there are a number of pre-marriage assessment inventories available to assist couples in communicating with each other about important issues that will affect their married lives together. Although Rosemont College does not offer or require such inventories, we strongly recommend that couples talk with their presider about taking an inventory.
- Couples will have a second meeting with the Wedding Coordinator at least three months before the wedding to plan the readings, music and other details for their wedding.
- Couples must obtain their marriage license from the Clerk of an Orphans’ Court in Pennsylvania. The license is valid for 60 days so should be applied for within that time frame. The license should be sent to the Wedding Coordinator as soon as it is obtained. The marriage license will be in the sacristy on the day of the wedding for the presider’s signature. The Wedding Coordinator will send one portion to the Clerk of the Orphans’ Court, give another to the couple and include the third portion with the wedding documents that will be filed in the parish office of St. Thomas of Villanova, Rosemont.
