Graduation/Diploma Information

The Registrar's Office verifies that students' have completed their graduation requirements, orders diplomas, and provides degree verification letters

Rosemont College holds a Commencement ceremony each May and confers degrees three times a year: January 31st, May (commencement date), and September 30th.   Students that complete their degree at the end of the Spring semester will receive their diploma in May.  Students that complete their degree in the Summer will receive their diploma in September, and students who complete after the Fall semester, will receive their degrees in late February, after degrees are conferred in January.

Additional Information

The College recognize graduating undergraduates through the awards of cum laude, magna cum laude, and summa cum laude, based solely on the student’s cumulative GPA at Rosemont College.  The cumulative GPA for each award is as follows: cum laude, 3.670 to 3.779; magna cum laude, 3.780 to 3.899; and summa cum laude, 3.900 to 4.000.  In addition to the required GPA, students must have earned a minimum of 57 credits in residence at Rosemont College.  The honors designation is printed on the student’s diploma and recorded on the student’s transcript.

Latin honors are for undergraduates students only and do not apply to graduate students.

All Rosemont undergraduate students who are candidates for degree completion and diplomas must meet the following general criteria:

  • Complete all degree requirements with an acceptable minimum GPA (2.000 in their
    major and 2.000 cumulative);
  • Obtain academic and financial clearances from appropriate administrative offices of the College;
  • Submit a Graduation Application to the Office of the Registrar by the published deadline.

Transcripts will not reflect degree conferral date until after the degree conferral date.  Students that wish to order a transcript showing their degree conferral should request the transcript order to be "held for degree" if they are placing the order prior to the degree conferral date.

Degrees are conferred on January 31st (for Fall completions), May Commencement date, and September 30th (for Summer Completions)

In certain cases, students who have not yet completed all of their program requirements may still request permission to participate in Commencement ceremonies with their classmates in May. Permission will be granted provided such students meet all other
criteria and have no more than one 3-credit elective course remaining to complete.

A diploma will be issued on the conferral date following the semester the student completes their course work.

Students may order a replacement diploma should their original become lost, stolen, or a replacement is needed for any purpose.

Replacement diplomas orders are placed through the Registrar's Office and are $50 per diploma.

In some situations, an alumnae may need a letter from the college their degree requirements have been met.  Degree verification letters are free of charge and must be requested in writing.  Please note, we cannot state that your degree has been received, until the degree has been officially conferred.

Request form and additional information is available

Occasionally you will be asked to provide an apostille of your diploma.   An apostille is essentially a certificate of authenticity.  Under the Hague Convention, signatory countries have agreed to recognize public documents issued by other signatory countries if those public documents are authenticated by the attachment of an internationally recognized form of authentication known as an apostille.

The State Department of Pennsylvania can apostille your diploma for you.  Read their instructions carefully.  Should you be requested to get an apostille, Rosemont can assist you, however, you will be responsible for all costs and fees.

Keep in mind, it is your original diploma that must be apostilled, not a copy and it will be marked on, folded and stapled during the process.  Most students request a new diploma to be apostilled so that they retain a frameable diploma.
