    Kathy Richardson, PhD

    Dr. Kathy Richardson is a native of South Jersey who has lived in Lancaster, PA since 2001.  She has worked in social services for over 20 years in a variety of roles including a case manager for people living with HIV and AIDS, an in-home counselor working with families involved in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems, and as a school based therapist in the Harrisburg City public school district. 

    In addition, she spent many years working as a clinical therapist and supervisor in community mental health, supervising a number of new graduates through the licensure process.  She is currently working in a private practice where she sees children as young as 2 years old along with teenagers, adults, couples, and families.  She has taught at the graduate level at as both a Teaching Assistant at Loyola University Maryland and as an Adjunct at Shippensburg University.

    Dr. Richardson is a Registered Play Therapy-Supervisor and incorporates expressive and play therapies into all areas of her work.  She adheres to a Humanistic approach to treatment, viewing clients as whole persons: mind/body/spirit, rather than a sum of their symptoms.  A long-time adherent of Trauma Informed Care, she is passionate about this way of working with others and advocates for community systems of care to respond in a more trauma-sensitive manner.
