This past Saturday was a busy one on campus! Congratulations to all our students who were honored at Academic Honors Day! I also want to thank all the staff and faculty volunteers who were here to help at our Admitted Students Celebration and Academic Honors Day! These successful events would not have been possible without your dedication to our community.

Congratulations to our Men’s Golf Team on their United East Championship win over the weekend and to Sam Reynolds who was named Golfer of the Year! Please read more below about the exciting news.

I wish our students all the best as you complete your final week of classes and prepare for finals. Please remember, if you need support, I encourage you to connect with our Counseling Center.

Speakers Announced for Commencement 2022

Coinciding with Rosemont’s Centennial year, the theme for Commencement 2022 draws on a statement from Rosemont’s mission statement: “fostering joy in the pursuit of lifelong learning.”

Rosemont’s 2022 Commencement speakers:

David Gould, Chief Diversity and Impact Officer at Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment, will deliver Rosemont College’s Undergraduate Commencement Address.
Jacqueline Adams Stevens ‘09, mental health advocate and content creator, will deliver the School of Graduate and Professional Studies Commencement Address.

Men’s Golf Wins United East Championship; Earns Automatic Spot in NCAA Division III Tournament
Sam Reynolds Named Golfer of the Year

The Rosemont College men’s golf team captured its first United East Conference title as the Ravens won the 2022 UEC Championship at Rancocas Golf Course on Sunday, shooting a two-day score of 638 (+70). The Ravens won the championship by seven strokes over Penn State Harrisburg who had a 645. The Ravens also earned the United East's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III tournament and will travel to Florida on May 10.

Junior Sam Reynolds was named as the Golfer of the Year, as he finished with a two-day total of 153 with a 79 on Day 2. Reynolds and sophomore Liam O'Rourke were both named to the first team.

Middle States Evaluation Team Report "Read Out" to Campus Community

As most members of the community are aware, our Middle States re-accreditation visit began yesterday evening and ends on Wednesday morning. All members of our community are invited to attend the final event of this reaccreditation process. This final event represents the culmination of a four-year process of reflection, during which numerous campus stakeholders—faculty, staff, and students—have contributed to producing Rosemont’s Self-Study document. Immediately after conducting their two-day virtual visit to campus, which many of you will be involved in, the evaluation team from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) will deliver its report to the Rosemont community on Wednesday, April 27, at 9:30am on Zoom.

Meet Julia Erdosy, SGPS Advisor

The opportunity to work in academic advising brought Julia Erdosy to Rosemont at the end of January as an SGPS Advisor.

“I am excited to join the Rosemont community,” said Julia. “I really enjoy working at a small college and supporting students in the School of Graduate and Professional Studies.”

Prior to Rosemont, Julia worked for the University of York in the UK and the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. In her spare time, Julia enjoys reading and traveling.

Shout-Out to Sister Peg

A family, who had scheduled their tour for Tuesday, mistakenly came on Easter Monday when the campus was closed. Luckily, Sister Peg was on campus and saved the day! The family let us know that Sister Peg was incredibly kind and generous with her time, sharing wonderful stories about the campus and the students. Sister Peg even found a student to give a campus tour! Thank you, Sister Peg!

Alumni Video Series

As part of our Centennial year of celebration, we spoke with nine accomplished and diverse alumni who shared their personal stories of how Rosemont College’s mission and values have shaped their chosen path in life. Please join us in listening to their reflections about Rosemont’s spirit, how they felt seen and heard in a learning community where professors fostered independent thinking and personal growth, and what it has meant to be part of a caring and supportive community imbued with respect for each person while building friendships that have endured long after graduation.

Waynetta Faust ‘12

Waynetta Faust knew from her campus tour that Rosemont’s family-like and inclusive environment were evident, that this was the place for her. Joy in learning for Faust meant not only her own learning but sharing that joy through tutoring in Tanzania as part of Rosemont’s Campus Ministry and working in service in two programs that supported middle school students and adults who are homeless in Philadelphia.

April Centennial Reflection

Jeanne Marie Hatch, SHCJ, delves into the challenges of gun violence. “All of us are complex individuals living in a complex world. Our races, cultures, economies, ethnicities, governments, political views, religious beliefs, and traditions create extraordinary diversity. Where can we begin to solve the complicated quandary of gun violence across our country? In face of this overwhelming crisis, we bring our plight to prayer.” Listen to the April reflection.

Campus Ministry

Mass will be celebrated at 4 pm in the Chapel on Sunday, May 1. Food and fellowship will follow. All are invited. This will be the last Sunday Mass on campus for the semester.

Volunteer Opportunity: April 26, 7:30 - 9:00 pm

Interfaith Hospitality Network is celebrating its 30th anniversary of working with families in crisis with a dinner at Our Mother of Good Counsel Parish in Bryn Mawr on April 26th. Students can help make this evening wonderful by helping to clean up after the event is over from 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm. Sign up at campusministry@rosemont.edu.

The Campus Ministry Lounge will be open for studying and free food all week long from 9:00 am – 11:30 pm!

Training Sessions for Staff

Today we will be rolling out the training links for the Vector Training certificates. All managers and directors need to make sure their staff and direct reports get the trainings completed, certificates printed and signed. Please return all signed training certificates to the HR office, Main 204, so they are filed. Please check your email for details from the Office of Human Resources.
