    James J. Coughlin, MS

    James J. Coughlin is a Sergeant in the Philadelphia Police Department assigned to the Philadelphia Police Academy Law and Criminal Procedure Unit. He presently conducts Criminal and Civil Law analysis and training for police officers and liaises with the District Attorney’s Office for developing police-district attorney training.

    Prior assignments include an Instructorship with the Advanced Training Unit, Squad Supervisor (Patrol Bureau), Detective-Police Academy Instructor, and Divisional Investigator.

    He also teaches for the Temple University Police Academy and the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency Constable Basic Training Program.

    He serves on the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officer Education and Training Commission and is actively engaged in curriculum development with Act 120, Act 235, Civil Law, Crisis Intervention, Interviews and Interrogation, Supervisory Crisis Response, Gang Awareness, and Stalking Response.
