Michael Zimmerman, MS

Captain Zimmerman is a second-generation Philadelphia Police Officer having followed in his father Bill’s footsteps. He began his law enforcement career with the Philadelphia Police Department when he graduated from the Police Academy.

He has served in patrol, as well as the Training and Educations Services Bureau’s, Recruit Training Unit providing basic recruit instruction at the Police Academy.

While assigned to the recruit training unit he oversaw the reality-based training section, police academy technical support (PATS) section, and physical training and defensive tactics section. Promoted to Captain in 2017, he was assigned to the Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC).

While employed by the Philadelphia Police Department, Captain Zimmerman attended Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command and the Pennsylvania State University’s Police Supervisory In-Service Training (POSIT).
