Welcome Bill Applegate
Katie DuBoff - January 15, 2024
Bill Applegate joins the Rosemont community as director of public safety. Bill comes to Rosemont from Franklin and Marshall College where he had served as a police officer since 2018. In this role, he was a field training officer and law enforcement liaison for student housing assistants and the college. He was also a student conduct mentor, assisting students in navigating the judicial review process.
Bill brings more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement to Rosemont. He began his career as an officer in Marcus Hook Township, followed by Haverford Township where he was cross sworn as a county detective with the Delaware County District Attorney’s office and established the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) for the Mid-Atlantic region.
Following Haverford Township, Bill was hired by the state attorney general’s office as a special agent/tactical flight officer/special operation and was based in the Lancaster area. He was one of three sworn special agents in Pennsylvania tasked to conduct digital forensics, child exploitation investigations, and educate and support local, state, and federal law enforcement.
"I am confident Bill’s background and enthusiasm for Rosemont’s mission will be assets to the public safety department and to the wider Rosemont community," said Jim Cawley, president of Rosemont.
"I am excited to join the Rosemont community," said Applegate. "I really enjoy working
in higher education. Feeling safe is one of the tenets to learn effectively. Safety
is everybody’s business, and I look forward to collaborating with students, faculty,
and staff at Rosemont to keep the campus safe. Joining the Rosemont community also
feels like my career coming full circle. I am from Philadelphia, grew up in Ridley
Park, and began my career in nearby Haverford Township, so it is nice to be back in
this area."
